The AAHHE Executive Board invites you to apply to be a Faculty Fellows. This program is open to Hispanic tenure-track faculty in their first, second, or third year of employment in a higher education institution or research or policy center. If you choose to apply, this program offers you two opportunities.

The first opportunity is to provide mentorship to our current year’s Hispanic Graduate Fellows (refer to the Graduate Fellows (link) page of this website for a description of this program). As an experiment last year, several former Faculty Fellows were on board to provide guidance to the current year’s graduate students. Some topics covered were: dissertation management, first career options, beginning to publish, etc. Many of these topics were more meaningful to the current Graduate Fellows when coming from new professionals because the graduate students could better relate to them as professionals than those of us who are 15-20 years out of graduate school.

The second opportunity is to receive advanced mentoring for yourself from senior professionals now that you are beginning to become established in your own profession. Your mentorship would come from members of the American Association for Hispanics in Higher Education.

If you are accepted as an AAHHE Faculty Fellow, you will be required to attend the AAHHE National Conference in Miami, FL from March 6-8, 2008. Your coach class airfare along with a shared hotel room (with another AAHHE Faculty Fellow of same gender) and registration fees will be paid by AAHHE. Your food expenses, airport shuttle, and other miscellaneous expenses are yours to bear.
