Elsa Gonzalez, PhD, is an associate professor in the College of Education & Human Development and Assistant Provost of Strategic Educational Partnerships at Texas A&M University. Gonzalez is former program director and intermittent expert at the National Sciences Foundation. She joined Texas A&M University in 2023.

Gonzalez is the regional editor of the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education (QSE), and board member of the Journal of Hispanic in Higher Education. She is the author of over a hundred scholarly works, her research interests include access, resilience, retention, graduation, and workforce development in STEM fields; HSI institutions; higher education leadership and qualitative methodological issues.  She was awarded a CAREER grant award (2020) for her project: CAREER: Broadening Participation in STEM: A Qualitative Analysis of Resilience Experiences and Strategies of Latina STEM Majors in HSIs from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Her last book was awarded as the 2022 Book of the Year by the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE). Gonzalez was named as one of the 25 Most Outstanding Women in Academia  (2023) by Diverse Issues in Higher Education, and she was recognized with the 2023 NSF Director’s Award for Superior Accomplishment.
