
2026-2027 AAHHE Faculty Fellowship Program

The AAHHE Faculty Fellowship Program’s (FFP) primary goal is to prepare faculty for successful careers in academia and beyond by increasing the number of tenured and promoted faculty. The program is geared towards new faculty who are beyond their first year on the tenure-track. Towards this end, program sub-goals include to:
- Provide strategies to assist tenure-track faculty in achieving their scholarly and career goals;
- Build community and network with other faculty; and
- Develop future leaders who are dedicated to uplifting their communities.
Eligibility
To be considered, applicants must: a) in a tenure-track position beyond year 1 by the start of FFP; and b) exhibit a track record of service and fem/mentoring to the Latina/o/x community. Upon acceptance into the program, Faculty Fellows are required to become AAHHE active members.
Schedule
AAHHE Faculty Fellows are required to attend and actively participate in all FFP events. The FFP program will begin in September 2026 with a virtual welcome/orientation followed by monthly webinars held from October 2026 through March 2027 with a culminating experience at the AAHHE National Conference. A comprehensive list of FFP webinar dates and times will be included in the selection letter. Additionally, Faculty Fellows will be required to attend select events during the 2026 AAHHE National Conference, location and dates TBA. The 2026-2027 Faculty Fellows will receive a fully paid conference registration.

How to Apply
Applicants are required to submit the following:
- Applicants are required to complete an online application form no later than Monday, April 13, 2026, 11:59pm ET.
- The following additional requirements of a Statement of Interest, Academic Research Statement, and curriculum vita should be uploaded as separate PDF files at the end of the online application no later than Monday, April 13, 2026, 11:59pm ET.
- Statement of Interest addressing the following five questions. The statement should be a maximum of two single-spaced pages with no more than 1,000 words. Statements of interest that do not address these questions within the word limit will not be considered.
- Why are you interested in participating in the AAHHE 2026-2027 Faculty Fellowship Program?
- How would the AAHHE Faculty Fellowship Program help your career development in ways that are not already happening?
- How do your future career goals align with the mission and values of AAHHE and the Faculty Fellowship Program goals?
- How do you feel your interests and experiences might enable you to contribute to a national cohort of colleagues and the AAHHE membership community as a whole?
- How do you plan to give back to your field and/or area of practice upon earning tenure/promotion
- Academic Research Statement of no more than 150 words.
- Curriculum vita
- Applicants should secure one letter of support from an advisor, supervisor, or faculty member. The letter should be written by a former advisor, supervisor, or faculty colleague, who can attest to your scholarly and teaching abilities, as well as indicate why participation in the Faculty Fellowship Program would be of benefit to you. Additional letters will not be considered. In the online application form, you’ll have the opportunity to provide the name and email of the person who will submit a letter of support for your application. The letter of recommendation will be uploaded by your recommender via a separate link. Applicants are responsible for providing their recommender with the following submission portal for them to upload their letter of support (in PDF format) no later than Monday, April 13, 2026, 11:59pm ET: https://aahhe.memberclicks.net/2027-ffp-lor.
Selection Process
Each application is reviewed and evaluated by a minimum of two faculty fellow program alumni using an evaluation rubric. If there are inconsistencies between the two evaluations, the application will be reviewed a third time by an additional reviewer. The selection of the final FFP cohort is completed by the FFP Leadership Team in consultation with the AAHHE Board Liaisons.
Program Requirements
As an AAHHE Faculty Fellow, you will:
- Sign and submit the AAHHE MOU*.
- Become an AAHHE Member (Faculty; $150 investment).
- Submit your digital professional headshot photo and a 200 maximum word count biography via a Word document (using third person; e.g., Garcia spent…) via the AAHHE submission portal*. Incurred expenses for the high-resolution digital headshot are reimbursable up to $50. Please send your invoice or receipt to [email protected] with identifying information and subject line: 2027 AAHHE FFP reimbursement.
- Participate in ALL required FFP Programming.
- Complete all program evaluation surveys.
- Make a commitment to AAHHE’s mission and vision and support the continuance of the various programs and events by volunteering, organizing, and/or leading future AAHHE programs and events.
