Dissertation Description

Various reports have indicated that transgender immigrants are disproportionately subject to sexual and physical abuses while in detention in addition to being denied hormone therapy, medical care, and housed in solitary confinement. Despite these reports, limited research has examined the psychological impact of detention proceedings on the lives on Latinx, trans immigrants. This study provides an understanding of the  psychological impact that the systemic power of detention and solitary confinement has on the multidimensional lives of Latinx, transgender immigrants through an intersectional lens.
