Doctoral Student
University of Denver

Sandra Bertram Grant, M.Ed. serves in AAHHE’s Governance committee. She is a doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at the University of Denver. She is a proud Latina, immigrant from México. Her research interests and passions are embedded in Latinx psychology. Specifically, her focus is to explore strategies and interventions, while using an interdisciplinary lens that will promote academic success and student retention. Moreover, her research concentrates on practices that adopt a preventive, rather than reactive, approach towards mental health disparities to promote the health of our increasingly diverse society. Clinically, she provides bilingual mental health services at an integrative care practice, with previous training in corrections, Parentline Colorado telehealth, and DV shelters. Her work is rooted in social justice and equity practices with the goal to advocate for marginalized communities. She has completed projects meant to empower and provide resources for the Denver metro community through We Play-Español and the Westwood Unidos Center. She has also contributed towards facilitating conversations and sharing resources with wellness coordinators in rural communities, specifically the San Luis Valley, CO, a predominately Hispanic community. Sandra hopes to continue to learn and grow as she integrates research to practice and engages in practice informed by research.
